As some of you know, my sister, Lisa, ran a marathon in January. This was shocking for many reasons. First off, we don't run. None of us. Ever. She apparently decided to change the rules and Karen and I didn't get the memo. Since she decided to train for this marathon, she has become a running machine. It's a weekly occurance for her to say "well, Saturday I had to run 12 miles, but then I was lazy the rest of the day." Correction. If you start the day with 12 miles, you could lay on the floor in the fetal position until Tuesday and still not be considered lazy.
Isn't she cute in her running gear (she's on the left)?
With this training, she's also done several half marathons (only a measly 13.1 miles)! Our other sister, Karen, and I have decided that it's time to get in better shape. We've all been dieting, joined gyms & are trying to get our girlish figures back (truthfully, none of us want to be the fat sister, so we're all trying to outdo each other - not fair since Lisa got the jump on us a year and a half ago, and she's 5' 10", so looks good already - my stumpy legs won't look the same as hers no matter what). Anyhow, Lisa somehow convinced me that running was great! I've been doing some early training, and bit the bullet yesterday. She and I signed up for a half marathon in November. Gulp. It's too late to back out now (and non-refundable). I guess I have to actually do this thing! I'm mentally prepared for it. I want to do it. She'll leave me in the dust before the first mile is done, but I'm okay with that. As long as I don't have to wear spandex, I'm in!

YOU GO GIRL! I am NOT RUNNING! And I do not do Spandex either! So, you and your sisters are doing it? Or just one sister?
If you read the book I gave you you'll know that spandex is a MUST!! Keep training and you'll be in great shape by the Rock n Roll!
Yeah for you!!!
Just Lisa and I (and a friend of hers) are going to do it. I mentioned it to Karen, and she apparently thought I was nuts! Maybe I am???
Good for you!! Hopefully you can get me inspired after the baby arrives. Can't wait to follow your journey.
You are nuts! This sister is staying out of running and out of spandex too! Maybe I can be your cheerleader or something. Wait - that might require spandex...... Um, anybody need a place to stay before the race? I'm good at that!
Yes, you are nuts! But the good kind! Please, oh, please wear spandex. Then take lots of pictures and post! There are days I need a good chuckle! :) Just kidding. By the time the marathon comes around you'll look so good you'll want to wear spandex to show off your new bod.
Where's this thing at? Maybe Karen & I can be standing at the finish line with coffee and donuts for y'all!
We're already missing all of you, too!
San Antonio!
Wow!! You go girl!! I've never done a marathon or a half marathon, but last year I signed up for the Breast Cancer 3Day where you walk 60 miles in three days. It was crazy, but I'm so glad I did it!! I bet you'll enjoy the training and the race too! I'm so impressed!
Go Joanne! Does it count that Kevin accidentally received a few issues of "Runners World" magazine so I read that and pretend that I'm a runner? :) I'm proud of you. A half is still on my list of to dos, but I've not been brave enough yet to actually sign up for one. Where is it gonna be? I'm excited for you.
It's the San Antonio Rock N Roll Marathon.
